What a lead actually costs you
Cost per lead is a measure of how cheaply you can collect phone numbers. This is the number underneath it.
Share of leads your sales team considers worth working.
Cost per lead
₹500
What you report today
Cost per qualified lead
₹1,667
What it actually costs
Cost per closed deal
₹11,111
The number that matters
- Qualified leads per month
- 300
- Closed deals per month
- 45.0
- Revenue from paid
- ₹22,50,000
- RoAS on closed revenue
- 4.50×
If cost per closed deal is close to your average deal value, you are buying revenue at cost. Moving the qualification rate is usually cheaper than moving the cost per lead.
How this works
Cost per lead divides spend by every form submitted, including the ones your sales team will never call. Cost per qualified lead divides it by the ones worth working, and cost per closed deal by the ones that paid.
The gap between the first and the third is usually large enough to change which channels you would fund. A source with a low cost per lead and a 10% qualification rate is often more expensive per customer than one that looks twice as costly at the top.
Worth noticing: moving the qualification rate is generally cheaper than moving cost per lead, because it is a form-design and targeting problem rather than an auction problem.
