Weeks 2-3

For your highest-risk models, we run structured bias audits across demographic and operational groups relevant to your use case. At the same time, we run a gap analysis against the compliance frameworks that apply to your industry and jurisdiction (typically ISO/IEC 42001, NIST AI RMF, and any sector-specific regulation). Every gap is documented with a severity rating and a remediation path, so the findings translate directly into prioritised action.

Governance Framework Design

Weeks 3-5

We design the governance infrastructure your organisation needs: an AI risk policy tailored to your operating model, role-specific accountability structures, mandatory review gates in the model development lifecycle, incident response procedures, and documentation standards for audit readiness. Where applicable, we map these controls to ISO/IEC 42001 requirements to support certification. The framework is built to be operationally realistic. Not aspirational controls that disappear six months after launch.

Implementation, Training & Handover

Weeks 5-6

We work with your technical and compliance teams to put the agreed controls in place, close the prioritised remediation gaps, and add governance checkpoints to your existing development workflow. We run targeted training for the roles accountable for ongoing compliance. This is role-specific guidance for model owners, data teams, and senior leadership, not a general awareness session. The engagement closes with a documented handover and a 90-day review checkpoint.

Building or modifying AI systems

Governance work assesses and protects existing systems. If the audit finds that a model needs to be retrained or rebuilt to meet bias or compliance standards, that is a separate development engagement.

Legal advice or regulatory representation

We produce compliance-oriented documentation and gap analyses, but we are not a law firm. We recommend engaging legal counsel for any matter requiring formal regulatory opinion or representation.

Ongoing compliance monitoring post-engagement

The governance framework we deliver is designed to be run by your team. Ongoing monitoring, model drift detection, and periodic re-audits are available as a separate retained arrangement.

What this looks like in practice.

Financial Services

Problem

A mid-market NBFC had deployed an AI-assisted credit underwriting model and was approaching a regulatory audit. The model had been built and deployed without formal documentation of training data sources, feature selection rationale, or fairness testing. The compliance team had three months to produce an audit-ready governance package.

What we did

Ran a retrospective bias audit across the model's approval outputs segmented by income band, geography, and gender-inferred features. Documented the model development process using available artefacts, filled gaps with current technical interviews, and built a compliance framework aligned to RBI guidance and ISO/IEC 42001. Produced the full audit documentation package and briefed the compliance lead ahead of the regulatory review.

Outcome

The NBFC passed the audit without remediation requirements. The governance framework remained operational post-engagement, with the compliance team running quarterly model reviews using our documented procedures.

HR Technology

Problem

A SaaS platform used by 40+ enterprise clients for candidate screening had received complaints from two enterprise clients about disparate shortlisting rates across demographic groups. The company needed to investigate quickly, respond to clients credibly, and prevent recurrence without overhauling the entire product.

What we did

Conducted a bias audit on the screening model's outputs across the client datasets in question. Identified that one feature (a proxy for candidate location) was driving disparate outcomes in roles where geography was operationally irrelevant. Recommended targeted feature adjustment rather than full retraining. Built a fairness testing protocol into the model release process and drafted client-facing disclosure language for the platform's data practices.

Outcome

Both enterprise clients were retained. The feature adjustment reduced the demographic outcome gap by 78% on the affected cohorts. The fairness testing protocol was adopted as a release requirement for all subsequent model updates.

Healthcare

Problem

A hospital network piloting AI-assisted clinical decision support tools needed to demonstrate responsible AI governance to its board and to the Ministry of Health as part of a grant compliance review. No formal governance structure existed, and the AI systems in use spanned three vendors and two internally built tools.

What we did

Inventoried all five AI systems, assessed each against a clinical AI risk framework covering patient safety, explainability, and data privacy.
